I have a large (72 page) file I copied and Pasted to Word 2004.

The lines are not completed across the entire page. This leaves a
rather large task of placing cursor then hitting delete, to get all lines
to fill out properly.

Is there not an easier way to accomplish the above?

You can fix most of these problems with a few passes of Edit >
Replace. See

Do you see paragraph or line breaks at the ends of lines when you display
nonprinting characters?

There's a probability that the end of line paragraph marks are no the
standard character (it depends where you have copied your text from). Try
copying and pasting the marks into the Find box (note you have to use Ctrl+V
to paste in the Find Dialog) instead of using ^p.

These are sentences within a paragraph that just stop at the period, and the
next sentence
takes up on a new line below. etc.

You haven't answered whether or not there is a paragraph break or line break
at the end of each sentence. If neither is the case, a long shot might be
that all the interword spaces are nonbreaking spaces (which would be bizarre
but would at least explain the phenomenon).

Suzanne, I do not know how to determine paragraph breaks. 8^(
This problem appeared in a second d/l file as well.

It must be something in the original document as I have no idea
of the formatting. Spent an hour and half doing the placing cursor
then hitting delete to save wasted space. the last d/l was a 36 page
and when I finished it came out to a 25 page doc.

My knowledge of formatting a document is minimal at best.

end in a pilcrow (¶) or an arrow bent at a right angle?
