Downloading and deleting messages

Hi, I'm new to Entourage (version 10.1.1) after using OE.

I'm having trouble adapting to the different rules and would be grateful for
some clues about managing newsgroup messages.

In OE all messages in every thread could be downloaded and then opened and
read offline. In Entourage every message must be opened online. How do I
enable open and read offline in Entourage?

How do I empty the newsgroup folders of read messages?

TIA.

I recommend MacSOUP, a superb offline newsreader. It's what I use! :) m.

You need to create a rule to download news messages. Go to Tools > Rules,
click the "News" tab, click "New", and create a rule that looks like this:
How do I empty the newsgroup folders of read messages?

Control-click the news server in the Folder List, and select "Empty Cache"
from the contextual menu. Note that at the moment there is unfortunately no
way to do this for any one individual newsgroup.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, after emptying the cache
every message is re-downloaded again and they still will only open
online.
