downloading contacts from Treo 650?

So I'm trying to get my contacts into Entourage from Outlook. I have them
on my Palm Treo 650 and I'm wondering if there's any reason I can't just
download them from there into Entourage. Don't wanna try it without knowing
for sure for fear of messing things up. Anyone have any idea whether this
should work?

This should work, either with the Entourage Palm conduits or via
iSync/Address Book/Entourage Sync Services. Note that Entourage's
conduit does not support most of the extended fields of the 650, nor
does it support categories.

I generally recommend doing a synchronization with Palm Desktop's
conduits first to make sure you have your contact information saved in
a Palm-friendly format.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm new to using the Treo as well as
the Mac, so I don't know if I understand what you mean by the Entourage Palm
conduits vs Palm Desktop's conduits. I did a Hotsync using Palm Desktop,
but it doesn't appear that any of my contacts downloaded into Palm Desktop.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hmm. You may need to double-check which (if any) Palm conduits are
active.

Open your Applications/Palm folder and launch Hotsync Manager; go to
the Hotsync menu and choose Conduit Settings. You should see a list of
conduits; you can double-click the Contacts conduit to see the
synchronization settings. Sync again and then check Palm Desktop. Also
note that Palm Desktop supports multiple "users" (named devices) -- you
may need to switch over to your device's data to see it.

The Entourage Palm conduit needs to be explicitly installed via the
"Handheld Sync Installer" -- in /Applications/Microsoft Office
2004/Additional Tools. Once installed, it will disable the Palm
conduits for contacts, calendar, notes and tasks in favor of
synchronizing all those data types with Entourage instead of Palm
Desktop.
