Drag and drop to save the current document?

R

Robert Rowlands

Hi all

Is it possible to somehow save the current document by dragging and
dropping?

I need to be able to save documents to various folders visible in our office
management software rather than root around using the Save As dialog. It
would seem obvious to be able to drag an icon and drop it on a shell
explorer component.

Perhaps a button could be associated with the current document?

All suggestions gratefully accepted.

Thanks.

Rob.

G'day "Robert Rowlands" <[email protected]>,

Methodology is king here.

What you REALLY need to do is set up Word so it matches your existing
dir structure.

There's numerous settings to help with this, here's a few suggestions:

Change My Documents to point to the root of your content mgt sys dirs
OR merely change Word's Tools > Options > File Locations > Documents
setting. I prefer the former so windows itself supports my content
system.

Use WOPR's (www.wopr.com) placebar thingy to set your listed locations
on the left of the dialog.

Set up your own dialog / toolbar with set locations on it for priming
the builtin dialog FileSaveAs.

(My fav) Force a rules based system that works off you own doc
properties dialog to fully capture the identity and purposing of the
document and auto calc its destination. I am available for commercial
help with this aspect if required. WordHeretic care of my ISP
