Drop down on a web form using word xp - How do I force user to select one?

I am new to web forms ....

My objective is to list five selections but forcing the user of the
drop down menu to select one of them without being lazy and selecting
the first item by default. The first item should simply read 'Please
select ...".

I hope you get the gist of what I am trying to do and can offer some
advice.

G'day (e-mail address removed) (Colin),

Just add a new item to be the first, and when you process the form,
reject those fields with the default showing
