Duplicate calendar events

For some bizarre reason all my calendar events have duplicated (ahhh), This
included both the repeat events as well as one time only events.

Is there a program or script you can suggest that will delete them? It goes
on for many months and I have lots of daily activities.

Not sure what made this happen,

Thank you in advance for suggestions. And naturally my iCal had done it also
so now I can not override one with the other (grrrr) -Lorene

Entourage has sync service issue problems, which has not been fixed.
Dups is one of the issues and can appear immediately or just suddenly
appear for some reason. In my case, dups only happen with all day
events. But anything is possible with Entourage sync services. Its
best to sync only one module at a time. In my case, I sync Calendar
and tasks as the prime and when I need to sync the other modules I
turn off the active module, switch to the module I want to sync e.g.
contacts, sync using combine and then switch back to calendar. Yes a
bit of work but it is reliable.

To get rid of your dups, especially if its every event well - do you
run Time Machine. In this case, what I do, if this does happen is I go
back and find a Main Identity that is fine. If you categorize all your
events, you can search for all non-categorized items and then delete
these. Or there are scripts on a MVPS web-site that checks for dups
and removes them. If you search in this group, you should be able to
find the link to these scripts. I tried one or two once but found it
way too slow. I don't have the link to this anymore.

Once you get your DB sorted out, do frequent backups with at least two
backup systems. I love Time Machine because if I immediately notice
the dups, I can just go to the previous 1 hour identity and restore
it. Even if iCal were fine, I couldn't overwrite Entourage as I have
everything categorized, tons of links and many projects. This would
all be destroyed. So if I do change my Entourage sync preferences, I
have a Quickey workflow that checks the calendar on Jan 2007 and if
its alright I know Entourage is fine. If not, I fix it immediately.
Sometimes though, if you run more than one module for sync'g at the
same time, corruption may happen at any point in time and you might
not notice it.

So to conclude, I'd suggest make sure you only sync one module at a
time as sync's are reliable. I've been doing this since Feb and there
aren't problems. Secondly, I'd suggest a good backup routine. I have
two external drives and one offsite remote called Crashplan that backs
up any changes to the folders I specify. For backup, I use Retrospect
(I'd say although this is very powerful it is very expensive and is
still a PowerPC app), DataBackup Pro which is now excellent,
Superduper which creates a bootable clone and Time Machine.

This problem with Entourage is definitely annoying and I wouldn't
expect a fix from Microsoft anytime soon.
