Duplicate email messages in Entourage 2004 after Tiger upgrade

Suddenly some, but not all, messages I get via an IMAP account are showing
up in duplicate. I can delete one but not the other. However, if I look at
my account using a web interface, the messages are truly deleted so it's a
copy that remains in my inbox that won't go away. Rebuilding the database
removes all old duplicates but then it happens again. I've turned off the
Spotlight indexing of my Microsoft user data but it's still happening.

Any clues anyone? Thanks in advance.

No clues on this end. However, I had the duplicate problem even before
updating to Tiger. I've gone back to v.10.1.4 rather than suffer with
the newer versions.The duplicates often multiply with a click on a new
email. Often just the subject line duplicates, though sometimes the
email email dupes. Deleting is often impossible, though no copy remains
on the server. It's made Entourage almost unuseable.
If anyone has a fix, please and thank you.

Yes, I agree--the duplicates are showing up after reading some, but not all,
messages. And I also agree, that if I can't solve this, it will quickly make
Entourage unusable for me. And I have a heck of a lot in calendar events,
to do lists, projects, and notes invested in it. I don't want to switch,
but I can't waste time screwing around with duplicate messages either.

Help!

Quit Entourage. Hold down the Option key and launch Entourage. Pick one of
the options to fix your datatbase. When it's finished, relaunch Entourage
and see if the problem goes away.

This worked for me! I downloaded the messagelist and headers from the server
and everything seems ok!

Just 1 little thing: de rules I defined became invalid. All foldernames were
replaced by "Inbox". You need to check them before receiving your messages
from te server.

I have had this problem for months in OSX.3 panther & it was driving m
nuts. Just rebuilt the databae after restarting entourage with optio
key -this works so far much better than repairing the message list i
the inbox folder . THANKS!

Ok, so i rebuilt the database both ways. Didn't work. How do you repai
the message list in the inbox
