Ok, I have this problem too, and I do have several accounts but they
receive mail from different sources and I don't think the duplication
is because of that.
Even though you had downloaded the emails with Entourage X, you had selected
to leave the messages on the server. Entourage 2004 did not know you had
downloaded these messages.
Tip: "Get all messages left on server" one final time on Office X, before
launching and using Entourage 2004. After doing this check "Allow online
access" to be doubly sure all messages are downloaded to Entourage X.
I just began using the 2004 test drive and
transferred my email over from v. X. What I think is happening is that
I had my Entourage set to remove messages from the server when they are
downloaded in v. X. Now, when I go to create that setting again
Accounts -> Edit Account -> Options, the option to remove the emails
from the server is greyed out. This is a POP account, by the way. So
every time I download messages I get additional copies of ones I
already have. Does that make sense, and can I fix this somehow?
It's enforced on the Test Drive so that you won't lose any mail should you
decide not to buy the full version and go back to your previous mail client,
where all accumulated mail will download to update it.
