I support several installations of Office 2004 and have seen IMAP
messages duplicated in the Inbox in Entourage 2004. I know that Paul
Berkowitz has suggested changing providers, which isn't an option as we
host email in-house and the problem doesn't affect all the 2004 clients.
In fact, I had someone up and running on Ent2004 for over 6 months
without problems until just last Thursday. Repairing the message list
works for a few send/receive cycles before the dupes return (only in
newly received messages).
The problem does not affect Entourage X at all, or any other IMAP
client. Looking at the inbox via SquirrelMail shows no dupes.
What would I need to do to troubleshoot this further? It would seem
that there is some magic number of messages in the inbox that triggers
this-that's my next avenue to explore.
I am convinced that the problem exists within Entourage 2004, not on the
server side. Re-installing and updating to 11.1.1 does not resolve the
problem. Rebuilding the account from scratch as a completely new
identity does not fix the problem-after a send/recieve cycle or two, the
dupes are back.
Entourage 2004, 11.0.0/11.1/11.1.1
Mac OS 10.3.4-10.3.8 on client
Eudora Internet Mail Server (EIMS) 3.2.6
Thanks for the pointers.
Cheers,
