Duplicate messages from years ago

My Entourage crashed this evening and when I rebooted it, messages
from the very beginning of my journey with Entourage are now being
duplicated in my in-box, over 6000! What happened? Can I stop it? I
have shut down and restarted my Mac but it did not stop the receipt of
all of these old messages. Help!

That looks like a database corruption,
Re-launch ENtourage pressing the alt key down to trigger the database
utility and repair/rebuild it.
