Duplicates of DUPLICATES!

I am testing 2004 Entourage and the darn thing is downloading multiple
copies of the same message and creating duplicates of duplicates in my
database. It seems after a rebuild of the database, it does not
recognize the existing messages and starts creating multiple copies...
Weird and a mess.

You are having problems. I hate to ask you to do this, but overall I think
it might be the best source of action. Create a new Identity. Import nothing
but your contacts. Enter all new accounts. Start fresh with rules. This
should clear any problems. We can work on getting your other mail into this
new identity when we know the problem is cleared.

See my other post. I cannot get the program to open without crashing
even removing the identities from the identities folder. The last thing
I was able to do was partially export my folders using Entourage Scripts
by Berkowitz Since a reboot, I am locked out.

I can open with option and verify or rebuild database, but that is as
far as I can get.

Launch holding down Shift key. That will prevent schedules from running,
including Receive All. It's possibly a corrupt message trying to download.
If you have a POP account, go to Tools/Accounts/that account/Options. Check
"Allow Online Access". Click OK.

In your Folders list you'll see the POP account as a server. Click on it. Go
to View/Preview Pane/ and select None. Sort by Received. Select the oldest
non-downloaded message and click Delete. (if it looks important, non-spam,
drag it tour your desktop first.)

If you have more POP accounts, do the same.

If you have an IMAP account, go to Tools/Accounts/that account/Options. Turn
off LiveSync if it's on. Turn off all options to "Download messages": in
fact turn off all options, period. Click OK. Go to the account INBOX and do
the same thing with Preview Pane and deleting oldest non-downloaded message
(the oldest unread message with jagged online status icon).

Go to your Hotmail account Inbox and do the same with Preview Pane and
oldest non-downloaded message.

Go to Tools/Send & Receive/ and select one account at a time. I there's
still a problem with one of the accounts, repeat but just with that account
next time.

To retrieve messages saved to desktop, first open them in TextEdit. If you
want to risk opening them by double-clicking afterwards (after closing the
file in TextEdit) you may find out which one was the culprit.

Paul, last night the first time after reading your message I was able to
open the program by holding down the shift key, but left a rebuild till
this am. This am, I dragged the IDs info back into the folder and then
tried to start the program but no dice. Holding shift didn't work. I
quit the program, removed the identities and tried again. No luck. Tried
to quit Database Daemon and restart with shift key down, still no go.
Since the crash is happening prior to any schedule, I am wondering if
something is corrupted in the database or database daemon and its
preferences which were transported from Office X to this test of 2004...

See my other post. I cannot get the program to open without crashing
even removing the identities from the identities folder. The last thing
I was able to do was partially export my folders using Entourage Scripts
by Berkowitz Since a reboot, I am locked out.

I can open with option and verify or rebuild database, but that is as
far as I can get.

What did you remove from the Identities folder? You have to remove the
entire "Main Identity" folder. If there are no Identities, Entourage will
launch creating a new identity. If Entourage will not launch at this point
then you need to use Remove Office and install again.
