Duplicating data in cells

When I want to create a list of dupicate sequential
numbers i.e 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3 by dragging the fill handle
down the column the numbers are no longer single digit
although I have pre-formatted the column for 0 decimals.
For example 7 has become 6.861234 (where did that come
from !?!?!) Can someone help me?

Enter 1 in A2

In A3 enter =A1 + 1


Drag/copy down column A
