Duplication of e-mails

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop 95% of all the e-mails I receive are duplicated. What is the problem?

Do you have forwarding set on any accounts? Do you have "leave on
server" selected in Accounts > Options tab?
