Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: imap

In work, all the e-mails have been changed from [email protected] to [email protected].

The old server is currently mirrored to the new one and both are still valid.
I have created a second separate account with @dd.ee.

My question is how can I assign the categories I already had in my messages in the old server to the new one?

Is there any automatic way? Because if I have to go manually I have to spend more than a day of copious-boring-erorr prone work!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Tnx!

I'm not sure I understand the question. Entourage assigns the categories and
it works for all accounts.

Can you be more specific.

Hi,
I wiill try to better explain.
All the email addresses have been changed at the begining of September. Right now each one of us has two emails the new and the old one. In order tonensure a smooth transition the computer department is actually mirroring the two servers and all emails received in the one address get transfered to the other.

I have created a second account in Entourage and as you can understand I am getting allmessages twice (one from each account l).

My problem is that in the new account my categories do not show up. Try for example to create a second identical account in Entourage of an existing one and you will see what I mean. The emails are there but on the freshly created one no mail is tagged by a category (or a project).

How can I make Entourage assign the categories to my new (identical to the already existing) account?

Many thx for your interest!

All the email addresses have been changed at the begining of September. Right
now each one of us has two emails the new and the old one. In order tonensure
a smooth transition the computer department is actually mirroring the two

other.

Why not just receive from the one account that gets all the mail?
I have created a second account in Entourage and as you can understand I am
getting allmessages twice (one from each account l).

You can solve this two ways.

1) create two rules
If from account a move to folder xx
If from account b move to folder xxxx

or
You could assign categories that would color them in the rule if you want
them to go to the regular folders.

If from account a set category xx
If from account b set category xxxx

Of course this doesn't get the categories from the senders.

2) Use one of the remove duplicate messages scripts.

My problem is that in the new account my categories do not show up. Try for
example to create a second identical account in Entourage of an existing one
and you will see what I mean. The emails are there but on the freshly created

They are similar but not exact.
How can I make Entourage assign the categories to my new (identical to the
already existing) account?

Other than a rule setting a category, the Entourage preferences for Address
Book. ˆ match categories to senders' categories should be working.

This could just be a bug with your unusual setting. I don't ever remember
this happening before.

Hope this helps!

Tnx! this really solved the problem although it took me some time, given the number of categories...

I have created specific folders for each category.
Then I made rules for each one like that:
If category is A then move mail to folder A
## I did this in the old account.
## And of course it got immediately mirrored in the new
then I logged in the new acount and just went to folder A and assigned the category of the whole folder to A.

In this way now in the new account all my mails have the categories!

Tnx again!!!
