E-Mail Display as

Is there a way to automatically get rid of the email
address next to the contact name?
For example, my name will appear like this on the To line
of an email:

Debra Haraldson ([email protected])

This is automatically appended to all contacts in the
field "E-mail Display As"

I'd like to turn this off if I can, plus prevent it from
happening on new contacts I create.

No. You would have to edit the Email Display As field manually to change it.
