I am having trouble with OL2K on e-mail. I use it on my
desktop and my laptop. Each uses html for e-mail (I don't
recall why; it might have been the default--maybe so that
more people could read the e-mail exactly as I prepared
it?) and each has a checkmark for using Word to edit
e-mail. Each has a signature to insert either automatically
or manually, depending on whether I am originating a
message or replying to one. The signatures are supposed to
be identical but the formatting is actually different as
between the 2 PCs. I have no idea how to change one or the
other so that the line spacing is identical between the 2
PCs. I assume there is a template somewhere, as in Word,
but I really don't know. If there is one I have never been
able to find it.
Also, when I start an e-mail message, the template (if that
is the word) that appears contains a welter of unwanted
styles in the blank text; the first line or two have 1
style which is OK, but the next few lines have a different
(unwanted) style and after there is yet another unwanted
style. When I enter text the styles obviously have an
important effect. I have to be careful not to let the
cursor accidentally slip down into one of those other
unwanted styles or the e-mail message ends up with goofy
formatting. I can play around with the text to make it look
OK but I cannot get rid of the unwanted styles permanently.
Actually, one of the styles somehow has my name on it, so I
may have created it in the past by accident. I notice that
my desktop version of OL uses a "stationery" called
"E-mail", whereas the laptop seems to use no "stationery."
I have no idea how this affect my e-mail. Is stationery
like a template?
Obviously OL and maybe Word have a very good idea what they
are doing but I--the user--am clueless. I would like to get
in on the secret! Is there a template somewhere that I can
edit, like a Word template?
Thanks!
