E-mail Notification - Screwy

P

Pab

Hello,

After setting the "Display a notification message when
new mail arrives," I get this screwy result. With 2
computers in the office having this problem. If an e-mail
is received, no notification pops up unless you click
on "Inbox," or "Outlook Today," or any other Outlook
shortcuts in the toolbar on the left! If any of these
buttons are clicked, then the popup notification appears!

This of course defeats the purpose of notifications.

Thanks for the help.

Wow! I missed the most basic info.

Outlook 2002 running on Windows XP. I have an Exchange
2000 running on Win2k 2000 server and I also have POP3
mail accounts setup on Outlook. Outlook has the below
mentioned problem for both Exchange mail boxes and POP3
mail boxes.

Do you receive emails though but not the notification or when you select
another folder then you receive the notification and emails, if its the
latter my first thought is that UDP packets are being blocked but this
wouldn't be the case concerning the POP accounts.

Well, there is no way to tell. If I go to my inbox or
another folder, The pop-up box comes up and I see the new
e-mail message.

Thank you very much Robert. The first solution with ISA
did it for me. The firewall was delaying the LDT packets.
