E-mail Notification

I would like a sound to play when new mail arrives.
Everything is set properly in e-mail options. If I click
on Send/Receive, a chime rings when the mail arrives.
However, if someone in the office sends an e-mail to me
(and I let it just come automatically, i.e., do not click
on send/receive), there is no chime. Suggestions?

Is it being delivered to the default Inbox in the Outlook Today folder set?
