E-mail opening

Frank Stefanec

Hi,
When I open up an e-mail, say a note from USA Today, I have to click
"receive rest of message" and "display pictures." Is there a way to just
open up the e-mail and not get those two warnings??
Thanks.

In addition to what Craig has written: there is actually something you can
do about the pictures not displaying automatically, but only if you're using
Entourage's Junk E-Mail Protection. Go to Tools>Junk E-Mail Protection, and
select the tab "Safe Domains". You'll see a text field where you can enter
the names of domains you know to be safe, and Entourage will automatically
download pictures in e-mails coming from that domain. Note that if you have
the right security preferences enabled, e-mails from contacts in Entourage's
address book will also download completely.

You have two issues:

To resolve the ³receive rest of message,² go to Accounts. Open the account
from which you receive mail. In the Options tab, unclick the ³Partially
receive messages over [X]KB.² Or, alternately, increase [X] to a larger
number so that more complete messages come through.

As for the ³Display pictures,² there¹s nothing you can do. This is really
designed as a security feature to reduce the amount of spam you get. For
example, if you automatically received pictures in spam email messages, you¹d
wind up with exponentially more spam ‹ because in some cases of spam,
downloading those pictures ³triggers² a response to its sender, thus
validating your email address and hence making it more valuable to spammers.

I have no issues with clicking on download pictures...for that reason. Small
price to pay, IMO.

Thanks, Michael. Didn't know that about the Safe Domains. Perhaps tedious
to fill, but it might be worth it over time. :)
