E-mails with pdf attachments remain in my Outbox. Why?

Stuck in Out

My outgoing e-mails with pdf attachments get stuck in my Outbox. But my
recipients do get the mail. It just doesn't move from Outbox to Sent Box (so
i can't be sure it has gone out unless I check with the recipient). This
only happens with pdf attachments. E-mails with other attachments go out
fine. Why? Cure?
