E2004 only receives 80% of messages

I've just started using Entourage 2004 on my new MacBook. I imported
everything from my old mac just fine, but in the past week or so,
Entourage has stopped receiving 100% of my messages. I get about 80%.
It seems that the problem may be connected to gmail messages (gmail is
the account that I use with Entourage). For example, I don't receive
test messages I send myself and it's frequently gmail messages that
don't come through. Also in the last week, my gmail contacts don't
appear as choices when I type an email address for a mail recipient as
they once did. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Check your Gmail setting online. Click on the Forwarding and POP tab. Be
sure to select "Enable POP".

Let me know if this works.

Here's the POP configuration from gmail:

1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since Jul 26
__ Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)
__ Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on
__ Disable POP

I just checked Entourage for the first time this morning, and it
downloaded some messages from last night, but missed the two new
messages from this morning (neither message was from a gmail
address).

Thanks for your help!

Interestingly, I just received two messages from today, though not the
two messages I can see from earlier today in my gmail inbox. I checked
the POP setting again and it now says "1. Status: POP is enabled for
all mail that has arrived since 9:10 am." So Gmail looks like it's
skipping the period between July 26 and 9:09am on July 27. I have the
option to enable POP for all mail, but I don't really want to receive
every message I've ever sent in my gmail all over again (I did an
import once from gmail to entourage and it took forever!). What do you
think?

Try this.... Under Mail Views select "Received Since Launch" does this show
the missing mail? You could also create a custom Mail View if you know
enough specifics about the missing mail. Using your gmail address might be
enough to show all gmail that has been downloaded. I suspect that a rule
might be moving your messages thus they seem lost.

Check the Mailing List Manager (MLM) rules for the destination folder for
each rule. It's easy to create a mlm rule by accident and mail starts going
places that it doesn't belong. Also check your regular rules for folder
destination. It's possible that one was reset to the wrong folder. Usually,
a rule when it looses a folder ID it will just reset to the Inbox, but other
times, it goes to other folders on your computer.
