Ease of addressing messages: Netscape Messenger---Good; MicroSoft Outlook---BAD

I liked Netscape Messenger's one-step addressing feature:
automatically completing addresses as you began typing
them in the "To" field.

I was surprised to discover Outlook's cumbersome, several
step method: 1) Click "To", 2) begin to type address (auto-
find works OK here) in "Find" box 3) Click "To" 4) Click
OK---unbelievable!

Surely, the great and powerful MicroSoft can take a cue
from this very useful feature of Netscape Messenger and
design it into Outlook!

Is there something I'm missing here? Is there any way
around this cumbersome Outlook feature?

Thank you.

Tools/Options/Send/
Check - Automatically Complete Email addresses when
composing. This is Outlook Express, but Outlook has a
similar setting in there somewhere.

No, Microsoft = different.

You don't mention the version of Outlook, either. At any rate,
Outlook doesn't do auto-complete. It has a feature called auto-resolution.
If you enter part of a name or a nickname then tab out of the field (or hit
Alt-K [Check Names]), Outlook will attempt to resolve the name against your
address book. If it can't it'll red underline it and you can right click on
the name to manually resolve it. Outlook will save the resolution for future
use.
