Editing a picture backgrond

I am new to "Publisher", but had seen someone demonstrate what I thought was a copy and paste function to cover an area in a picture. They wanted to omit an object and "covered" it up by copying the backgound overit a little at a time. Hope this makes sense....hope someone can help.
Thanks!!

Thanks for the advice. I am aware I can "just edit the picture in an image-editing program and then copy it over", however, as I stated I am new to "Publisher" and had seen this done and thought as long as the pic was there already, it made sense to find out how the task was completed. As for the "proper tool for the proper job", having owned a construction firm for better than 23 years, not only do I drive a nail with a hammer, there's usually a generator attached to it. Thanks again

That might have been what I saw.....I did go to another application for the sake of time and edit the picture. And, I will make contact with the guy I saw do this originally (just out of morbid curiosity, if nothing else)! Thanks again for the input. Happy hammering!!!

I wonder if you are describing the "Crop" function?

Since you did not include your Publisher version
number...just open your Publisher program and go
to Help and enter...crop...it will explain how to do it.

"editing" a picture like this is like wearing a tee shirt with big red
letters "kick me" on the back.

It can cause serious problems at output time.

Should someone else take over the publication and decide to slightly alter
the layout, the little extra piece will very likely go unnoticed until the
job is off the printing press.

Etc.
