Editing Message in Entourage

D

David

I receive email messages from an exchange server at my college. In
Entourage X, I could edit the subject and body, in Entourage 2004, I
can't find a way to do that. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
Thanks much.

Me again. Just to clarify, if I open the message in a separate window, I
can see "Edit Message" in the Message menu, but it is grayed out.
Entourage Help, indicates that there is an edit button in the toolbar,
but there isn't. The program seems to indicate that there is some way
to edit, but it won't allow it. Could this be a limitation from the
exchange server. Should it be configured to allow it?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

It sounds like the messages are still on the server and editing is not
allowed.

I confirm that you can't edit Exchange messages. I'm not positive it has to
do with being on a server: I can edit IMAP and Hotmail messages, but not
Exchange messages. When I edit IMAP messages I do not see the "Uploading to
server" dialog (only in Entourage 2004) that I see when saving IMAP messages
as Draft. (Hotmail drafts are just saved in local Drafts folder, not on
server.) Therefore it's pretty clear that saving edited IMAP and Hotmail
messages must occur only in the local Cache, not on the server. I think that
it should be possible to do that for Exchange messages too - except that
Exchange messages would have to synchronize the server a minute or two later
and perhaps that can't be done for existing received messages (although I
don't see why not - it does happen for Exchange Draft messages. You can
change and save drafts on the Exchange server.) I'd be inclined to call it a
bug - or would want to know why it can't be done.
