A colleague of mine has an org chart that was created using PowerPoint 97. When opened in PowerPoint 2002, it initially looks fine; when clicked, the round white selection handles appear around the perimeter and it still looks normal. However, once you double-click to edit the chart, the boxes across the top go awry, and the only way to fix it seems to be to close the document without saving, which defeats the purpose of trying to edit. Here are some of the crazy things that happen: a box that was manually added to the bottom of the chart in 97, along with the font, suddenly becomes HUGE; one of the connecting lines across the top becomes very thick; an extra, empty blue box appears at the top of the chart where there had initally been two co-managers listed side-by-side; one of the boxes for the co-managers get pushed over to the left side above another manager's box, while the other on is placed below the new, empty blue box mentioned above in an "Assistant" position, with a connecting line running right through the middle of it. At this point, we're probably going to recreate the whole chart, as it has been frustrating and time-consuming to try and fix, unless there is a better way...?
