Email Addresses

I apologise if this has been asked before but is there a way to use multiple
email addresses in Entourage in the same way as one can in Apple Mail. The
latter lets me set up several personal email addresses in the email address
field of account preferences and I and then send emails from either of these
addresses. I therefore have several email addresses available under one
account and this combines well with smart folder functionality.

I like Entourage, especially the ability to assign categories, but the email
address issue is stopping me from moving across. So, can I assign more than
one email address to a single account or is there a workaround?

Many thanks

You can create "send only" accounts in Entourage that handle this.

Create your initial "main" account under Tools --> Accounts... for
receiving mail and allow this to be included in your Send & Receive All
schedule so that you receive mail.

Create multiple other accounts where the *receiving* server is either
real or fake but the *sending* server is your legitimate SMTP server.
Include different names, E-mail addresses, signatures in each send only
account and name each appropriately so that you can identify them.

When sending a message, you'll see a drop down menu with your multiple
accounts. Select the one you wish to use.

This blog post of mine might give you some ideas of what I'm proposing:

"Automatically change your signature for different recipients"
<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2008..._your_signature_for_different_recipients.html>
or <http://tinyurl.com/yue567>

While it is mainly about changing signatures, it uses the send only (or
"dummy") accounts idea to accomplish some interesting results.

Hope this helps

Many thanks. Presumably this means that sent messages will be filed in the
sent folder on the send only account. If so this is not ideal but I can work
around it.

If you have POP accounts then they will all be filed in the Sent Items
folder under "On My Computer".

If you have IMAP accounts then you can create an Outgoing rule to move
these messages to a common folder.

Hope this helps!

Yes that helps big time. Thanks.
