email and url links in Entourage

Help! When I type outgoing emails and type my email address and/or a url, it does not create an active link. It is just regular text and does not underline or create a blue link. When recipients of my email open the email, they do not see active links. I never had this problem in Outlook, when i typed, for example, [email protected] or www.orbitz.com, it automatically created a link.
I have pored through Entourage help and have not found anything. I am sure there is an easy solution.
Thank you!

I am sorry. This did not solve the problem. I sent test emails to others using this format, mailto:[email protected]. Still no link at their end. Is there a setting in Entourage which is not allowing the email addresses and urls to highlight?

If you drag an address from the "To" pane into the message, it will be
clickable. This will show you what form you need to use.

Enclose the URL with < and > viz: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> so that
if the URL wraps over more than one line, it will still work when it gets
there. Don't forget to format with the http:// prefix.

When you compose a message the links do not appear active, but they are.
Just save the message as a draft and you will then see the active links.

Easy way to insert URLs into a message:

Get one of these free scripts at scriptbuilders. Be sure to assign a
shortcut to the script for easy use.

Insert Safari URLs
Insert OmniWeb URLs
Insert Firefox URLs

I wish that these suggestions had worked. The email addresses that I type in my emails not only do not appear active, they are not active. I have tested with several recipients and in each case the address is not clickable. When I test to myself in Entourage, they are. Do you have any other suggestions? I am feeling very frustrated.
Your suggestions re: urls appears to work, but for email addresses, no success.
Thank you!

Until you save the message as a draft, they will not be clickable. If you
ever have trouble with a link not working, then command click on the link.

Please send us some examples of links that don't work.

Diane,
I just created an email, typed [email protected] into the text, saved as a draft, and then sent to my daughter's email as a test (she is a Windows user). She did not receive a clickable link for my email address.
I am not having any trouble with links in email I receive, just in emails I send. The recipients do not get a hyperlink.
Thanks,
Melissa

A lot of this depends on the email program the recipients are using. Some
are very liberal about what they interpret to be an email address, some are
not.

One tip: try turning off HTML.

Adam,
Thank you. Typically HTML is off, but I will try this as well. It has been my experience that when you type in an email or web address, the text is highlighted as you type (this has always been the case in WORD, and other email programs). Why does it not do this in Entourage, or on the Mac?

You should see it when you save as draft.

FWIW, sometimes it's the server that strips messages. Can your receiver,
check to see what it looks like in her web mail access?
