email certificate to contacts

Hello,

I have someone who sends me email that has a certificate associated with it.
When I open his email message I have a message that says "There is a
security problem with this message" and a link "View Details". When I click
View Details I'm given an option to Add to Contacts the certificate info.
When I do, I can't see that it has done anything. There is no certificate
in the address book entry. I am using Exchange 2007 and Entourage 2008 with
SP1 installed.

You likely either do not have that persons Root CA in your System
keychain (if you are running 10.5) or they are using an invalid S/MIME
cert. Either way, contact the person who is sending the emails and
request the necessary certs to make sure the chain is completed for
verification. Otherwise you may just be giving a helpful notice that
their cert has expired (they should already have been notified of this
by their own email software).

I don't know if S/MIME certificates are automatically synchronized with
Exchange contacts. You might try opening the same message in Outlook and
seeing whether you can save the certificate to his contact. As far as
the "security problem," try Aaron's suggestion of adding the sender's CA
cert to your root list.

Cheers,

Thanks Paul,

I went into Outlook and the certificate is there in the contact card for
person. In Entourage 2008, no certificate info is display. So is this yet
another example of a missing or badly implemented feature in Entourage?
