email encoding (outgoing mail)

S

Susan

Can anyone tell me why hyperlinks (to web urls) in my outgoing mail
are not working on the recipient's end? When I view source of my
outgoing message, there are never <a href> tags appearing around my
web links (though the rest of the source code appears as html). And
yes, the entire url is in the message (including the http://...)

My customers are getting very frustrated with my emails because the
links aren't working (causing them to have to copy and paste the url
in their browser).

Help please?

Some email programs expect that an HTML message will wrap URLs in an A tag.
Entourage doesn't. If you think it should, send feedback to Microsoft.

In the meantime, you'll probably have better results sending your messages
in plain text.

I don't think you can have the latest version of Entourage - 10.1.4. There's
a change in the HTML encoding in 10.1.4 that should remove this problem and
make the URLs clickable - and also make the font size look better on Windows
too.

Go to the MacTopia website and download the Office 10.1.2 and 10.1.4
updaters (and 10.1.5 too, although it won't affect Entourage). Apply them,
then you should be OK.

If you're still having any problems (or haven't upgraded), download my
script "Make Hyperlinks X" from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

It also lets you use "text display" hyperlinks if you wish.

And, as Adam says, there will never be any problems with plain text.
