Hi
We have an occasional issue with e-mails in Outlook 2000
sent from Word 2000 with an attachment (ie. File/Sent
to/Mail Recipient with Attachment) where the menu and
toolbar buttons may decide not to respond to mouse or
keyboard for a short period of time.
As a for instance:
I sent a one-page Word document to a mail recipient as
attachment, filled out the subject line and entered a
recipient distribution list and tried to press the SEND
button with no response.
The button did not even depress or show a tooltip.
Further investigation found none of the other buttons on
the toolbar or menu items were accesible or responsive.
I tried ALT-tabbing to a different application and back to
the problem e-mail with no change.
I could still click in the TO and CC address fields and
the main body and type text and the TO and CC buttons
brought up the dialog boxes.
Upon closing the TO dialog box, the toolbar seemed to
flicker and suddenly everything was back to normal and the
item could be sent.
This was at least 2 minutes after the e-mail was
originally written.
Generally, e-mails, including one's sent from Word or
Excel work properly but this issue has started cropping up
a couple of times a day for a busy user.
This has happened on a computer that has been in use for a
while and a fresh install.
Outlook is installed from an Office 2000 administrative
install that hasn't changed since SR1, SP2 was applied
when they came out.
The operating system is Windows NT4 with SP6a, Office 2000
just has SR1 and SP2 installed. The Exchange server is
5.5 with SP4.
A similar thing may be happening in Microsof Word where
the down arrows next to some icons on the toolbar (ie
highlight colour, font colour) do not respond for a few
attempts and then decide to work after clicking elsewhere
on the page.
Any ideas?
