Email not opening full-screen

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel
Email Client: pop

When I open an email, it only displays the top inch of the window instead of the window in full-screen so I have to hit the green dot every time I open an email to see the message.

Any ideas?

Have you tried resizing the window by dragging the lower right corner of the
window? When I've done that, Entourage 2004 uses that size to open messages
thereafter. I would expect 2008 to behave the same way.
