Hi,
Way, way back (Feb 2003) I posted about the absence of this sound for
one user only when 2 of us were using XP's Fast User Switching. Got an
answer. Worked fine.
Then somebody saw that message in Sept 2004 & asked if I had the
answer. Sadly, I'd lost it. They worked out a solution.
However, a hunt through my hard drive today for a file found
dingfix.reg. This is the registry fix that solves the problem:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\.Default]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\.Default\.Default]

The easiest way is to search Google for "dingfix.reg". I've just done
that and, lo and behold, good, old Kelly's Korner was were I originally
found it. That's the place to go:
