Email/server problem

Hi,

Some months back, I posted the following note, which hasn't been
followed up to, and I'm still having the problem, so I'm posting
again, and providing a bit more info.

Here's the orginal post:

Hi,

I am having trouble with sending and receiving email through
Entourage. I have just changed ISPs, and Entourage does not want to
acknowledge the new server. I have confirmed the POP and SMTP server
addresses, but to no avail, as I continue to get the messages :

"Could not retrieve mail from account ...
"The spectified server could not be found."
"Error -3170 "

The strange thing about this is that Explorer works - hence this note,
as does Apple Mail, so it seems to be a problem confined to Entourage.

Any comments/advice would be welcome.

To expand : Explorer works as does Mail, and there was no prompting
for new info when I switched ISPs; those programs just figured it out
for themselves, which is nice unless, like Entourage, they can't
figure it out.

The error message above comes when I click "Send and receive".
Entourage gets mail from my hotmail account with no problem, although
only after I open Explorer first. If I don't open Explorer first,
then Entourage gives me a message that I have not entered a dial up
number or some such thing.

I have confirmed with ISP that the info I have for the account is
correct, and that info is what I see in the Mail.app program.

Any insights into this would be appreciated.

Please respond by posting or by email to the address below (the
popmail account isn't working for me now).

This certainly looks like a problem with the server address. Can you post
details (either here, or directly to me, if the information is sensitive) so
we can try a little more detailed digging?
