Emails on server

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: pop

I have set up Entourage to get all of the emails from my gmail account and its been working fine. Does anyone know of a way to set it up so that once entourage downloads emails from the gmail server it marks those emails as read on the gmail server? I'm running into the problem where I will read emails on entourage and then sign onto gmail from work or something and nothing is marked read so I have to click on them all to figure out what's new and what I had already read on entourage. Thanks!

I recommend contacting gmail support. When Entourage downloads e-mails from
att.net via POP, they appear as read when I check mail via the web. Clearly
the two mail servers handle downloading differently.

You need to set up your gmail account as IMAP to get that function.

How do I set up gmail as IMAP? is that something I do through my gmail account or through entourage? Can you provide me with the steps? Thanks!
