It's time for Microsoft to enable its Office products, especially MsWord,
Excel, Powerpoint and Access, to save to (& more generally to work seamlessly
with) the Open Document file format (Open XML, not Microsoft's own
proprietary version of XML). Ms. Word is a popular product, but public
agencies will drop it before long if it is not able to handle the Open Doc
file format as well as its Open Source competitors
