Encourage crashes when attemting to add or change identity

I have posted it before, but as it has not attracted any response, I post it again:

For some time now, Entourage quits when I try to add or change my
identities in the "change identity" window. The program also quits
when I try to use the language tools on a message in Entourage.

I have un- and reinstalled Office X to resolve the problems but they
remain. I have the latest MS Office update installed, running MacOX
X.3.8 on a PB G4Ti/400. Can anyone advise what the problem might be
and suggest a cure for it?

Go to Entourage/Turn Off Office Notifications. Then Switch Identities and
try to add a new identity. If you still have trouble, try again, but first
launch Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor. While in the "identities"
window, look for Microsoft Database Daemon in Activity Monitor: if you see
it there, kill it.

I think you are getting a conflict of two identity daemons open at the same
time. Quitting an identity by Switch identities is _supposed_ to kill the
daemon, but there seems to be a rare bug that may not be doing so. It
probably occurs just for identities imported from Entourage X (or 2001), not
for new identities made by 2004. Once you've killed the daemon (and simply
Turn off Office Notifications ought to do that), you should not have
trouble making a new identity or switching to an existing one.

Hi!

Sorry if I forgot to state my version of MS Office clearly, but I
included it in the message content. Anyway, the version is MS Office X
with the latest updates.

Any advise on my problem?

Best regards,

Chris
