Encourage has crashed twice in three months.

I have had two catastrophic "crashes" of Entourage (2004) in the last
three months! These crashes have occured when I had finished for the
day and shut down. When I then turned on my computer (Mac running
10.3.9) the next morning and went to Entourage, the program greeted me
as though I had never used it before. Everything was gone. I believe
my data is residing in a file/folder named Microsoft User Data, but I
have been unable to access it. Are there any suggestion?. Thanks.

Many things could create this type of problem:
- disk corruption (boot on your MacOS X CD/DVD and use Disk Utility from
there to fix the drive - or use DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro)
- Permission issue: use Disk Utility on your Mac, select your drive and
click the Repair Permissions button
- Database corruption (you can rebuild it by pressing the alt key as you
launch the app) - you should still see the account as you launch the app
though unless the account is completely trashed
- maybe a preference corrtion ?? I doubt it.

You should start with the first two options, then check in your user
account in ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities
whether you see a folder called Main Identity (that's where the
Entourage account is stored).
