Encourage keeps downloading old emails!

Hello,

I have two problems:

1) Over the past 2 days, Entourage has been re-downloading emails (I have 2
email accounts). I dump all the emails in the trash, and then Entourage
redownloads all those emails again. Arghh!!!

This used to happen very occasionally (1x every few months), but now it is
really out of control.

Any idea how I can stop this?
Do I need to rebuild the database?

2) I now have 20,000+ emails in my Entourage trash. I was trying to delete
them manually (select them, and then delete, in small batches). But is there
an easier way to delete all the emails in the trash?

I have Entourage 2004 version 11.3.6 running on MacOS X 10.4.10, on a
PowerBookG4.

I'm not sure if a rebuild will make the problem disappear. Are you using POP
accounts? Did you configure Entourage to leave the messages on the server?
Are you doing anything in particular before Entourage starts re-downloading
the messages?

You can ctrl-/right-click the Deleted Items folder and select "Empty Deleted
Items" from the contextual menu.
