Encription for Microsoft Project Password protectede .mpp files

I would like to ask a question which is very important to me.

I would like to know how microsoft project encrypts MPP files when they
are password protected?

I doubt that this information is public as it may encourage people to
try to hack into password protected files.

Perhaps if you tell us a bit more about what you are trying to
