Can anyone tell me if MS Entourage has any certification or validations (like FIP 140.1 or 140.2 level 1) for it's e-mail encryption?

Thanks,

Allan

thanks for the pointer. There is no mention of Entourage on that page :-(

FIPS 140-2 level 1 or greater is required by the government, so I'm very surprised that Entourage isn't certified to that level. Without that certification, we cannot use it.

I sincerely doubt that Entourage is compliant. I've never heard any of
the developers talk about this kind security requirement.

We've opened a ticket with MS support. Unfortunately, this is a US government requirement when sending encrypted mail (NIST 800-53, SC-13). Without that validation we have to find different e-mail client for sending encrypted mail. I know Apple is working on validation and ThunderBird is FIPS 140-1 certified.

I'd definitely let Microsoft answer this for you, the government or a
security consultant. This is not an issue I've seen raised on the
forum and I would say not a good place to look for this kind of
answer. You absolutely want to ensure your compliant so definitely
verify this 100% with a reliable source and probably get it in writing
in case your ever questioned regardless of the client you use.
