English (U.S.)

M

Mark Micallef

Is there a way to completely remove the U.S. "English" dictionary from
Microsoft Office products?

Although I keep setting the default language to English (Australia) or
English (Britian), it regularly reverts to English (U.S.) all by itself.
This becomes really annoying when Word automatically converts correctly
spelt words to their Americanised versions.

Since we have no reason to use American spellings, I would rather just
remove this dictionary from our computers entirely (or maybe - thinking
laterally - overwrite it with one of the other dictionaries), but I'd be
happy to disable it somehow. Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Mark

You need to set this is Normal.dot template. Try these steps:

1) open Word
2) Tools, Options, Save
3) Now make sure "Prompt to save Normal template" is ticked
4) Tools, Language, Set Language
5) Select your language and click on default
6) Click OK
7) Exit from word
8) you will get a prompt to save Normal.dot - accept it
9) Test whether this has been effected by opeing word again and typing something using Australian English
10) If everything works then you need to remove the tick mark created in 3 above otherwise it will drive you crazy all the time.

Now you have already made ememies with yankees for rejecting their language and so GBush will bomb Australia if he doesn't get re-elected!!

Hope this helps.

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.
