ENT 2004 crashes when opening mail with embedded HTML

For some reason, Entourage 2004 is crashing when I try to open a mail
message with embedded HTML graphics (that is , it crashes when I try to open
a mailing with an electronic newsletter but doesn¹t crash when I open a mail
with a hyperlink in the text).

This has not been an issue until this morning ­ I changed no settings, did
not update any fonts, etc., but now simply clicking on the message will
cause Entourage to crash. I can¹t even get as far as seeing it in the
Preview pane. It¹s a problem as we send out mailings to subscribers using
HTML newsletters and I can¹t preview them now. It seems to be any mail from
any source, not just mail from a single address or account.

Any suggestions on what might be causing this or how I might solve it? I¹ve
checked the database integrity and the system didn¹t find any errors.
However, I guess I can do a full rebuild but I¹m trying to avoid it if
possible. I¹m on an Exchange server and the rebuild blows away all of my
contact and event categories so I have to reassign all of the categories to
every event and contact, which is tedious.

I¹m working on a MacBook Pro but have been for about 4 weeks with no prior
issues between Office 2004, Rosetta, and the Intel processor.

Hi Chris,

Entourage uses a flavour of the Tasman rendering engine, which was also used
in Internet Explorer for Mac, and since this problem affects every single
HTML message, it might be caused by corrupted browser preferences. Quit
Entourage, then delete the files "Tasman Browser.cache" and
"com.microsoft.browserfont.cache" in ~/Library/Caches to see if that solves
your problem.

Hi Michel,

Thanks. That seems to have solved it. I should have remembered that trick -
I've had issues with fonts that required that exact remedy.
