Ent-X Year End Clean-Up and Archive

I am posting this to see if I am doing something useful and to see if
someone has a better suggestion.

At the end of each year I create a new Entourage folder (under the "On My
Computer") for the previous year's mail. The new folder I just created says
"Mail 2003" and on or about the end of the year I will drag my current Inbox
and Sent Items to the new folder and changed the names to "Inbox 2003" and
"Sent Items 2003". I will then restart Entourage X and it will create a
new clean Inbox and Sent Items that can be used for the current year.

Anybody have a better suggestion?

You can use a Custom View to select those messages you want to archive. Then
drag the icon for that view to the desktop. This creates an MBOX file. You
can always drag it back into Entourage at anytime to view those messages or
create a second identity and drag the messages into that identity. Then to
view, simply switch identities. Best of all you now have a separate backup
of your messages with the MBOX file.

If you really want to keep those messages in your current identity select
all the messages in the current view and use "Move to" to the selected
folder.
