Entering an event in Calendar

Strange behavior: regardless of the method, entering the date manually, clicking on the calendar icons next to the date, attempting to change the date of an existing event, impossible to enter a January 22nd 7pm (for example) event, Entourage changes the date to one in the past as I Save/Close and complains the event is in the past. What am I doing wrong?
