entering pre-set text strings

I have a regular job doing building inspections which involves filling in a
table with perhaps 20-40 one or two-line comments from a pallette of around
100. I need to go to a row in the table and pick the right comment from the
list and have it inserted. What is the best way to do this? I looked at
autotext but it didnt seem to offer the kind of directory tree-like
structure that would allow me to easily organise, pick and insert the right
note from a large list of comments organised into categories and
sub-categories.

You might be able to utilize AutoText combined with the AutoTextList
field in order to accomplish what you want. An AutoTextList will allow
you to right-click a cell containing an AutoTextList field and select
an AutoText entry from a list of choices. If you have a lot of
AutoText entries then you can categorize them by utilizing styles.
(This is how the built-in AutoText entries are organized under the
AutoText menu, btw)

So if you have three possible choices for a specific cell you can
display only the applicable choices in the AutoTextList.

Here's an article that provides more information on what I am
referring to and how to utilize the AutoTextList field

thanks Beth
just a question before I read the article....could the use of styles as you
suggest represent say level 1, level 2 etc to 'simulate' a hierarchchal
organisation of the items?
