Entire messages file erased

I've just had the strangest problem with Entourage. I typing a reply
to an email when the application froze. I waited about 10 minutes and
still nothing. So I force quit Entourage. When I relaunched the app I
go the "Welcome to Entourage" screen. I looked in 'Offfice 2004
Identities\Main Identity' folder and found that my messages file
(normally around 250MB) was only 18MB and that the file had been
created about two minutes earlier.

It seems to me that Entourage replaced my file with a new blank one,
but I'm not certain this is the case.

Anybody have thoughts about how I can restore my old email?

Do a search of the hard disk for all files called "Database". One of these
may be the right database file (you should be able to identify it by the
size & modification date).

It is likely/possible that the file has lost it's position (or been deleted
altogether) by disk corruption - try repairing the disk directory structure
with disk warrior/disk first aid etc.

Also, if you run norton/symantec anti-virus, make sure the database hasn't
been quarantined because your anti-virus package detected an infected email
in there.
