Entouage v.x missing file

Resi's Mac

Hi
i hope you can help.
I am having problems with using entourage v.x. when I open it it opens
in the sent messages folder view, when I change to inbox it
'unexpectedly quits'.

I thought to copy my identity files (only one identity) but I seem not
to have a messages entourage database file (have all the others). when
I go harddrive/docs/microsoft user data/office X identity/ main
identity all I have is: Database, Database Cache, Mailing Lists,
Rules, Signatures

there must be a file somewhere that is storing my messages files...

also i just run ClamXav and found 3 trojan files (could this be it?)
but ClamXav does not seem to be able to remove the files.

I have a backup of an old Ent. identity (before I upgraded) and the
tojan files are there, can I delete these files? last time their were
modified was 2004, so ancient...

hope you can help
feel a bit lost having to check my e-mail online...

thanks

There is no Messages file in Entourage X. Your messages are in your database
file. This is a change from Entourage 2001.

It's the database file.
also i just run ClamXav and found 3 trojan files (could this be it?)

Doubtful.Note: ClamXav has an option to move infected files to trash . Be
sure to uncheck this or your Microsoft User Data folder could go "missing".

Can you explain what you actually upgraded? Did you upgrade the OS or
Entourage? We need more details before we can know what to suggest.

Try rebuilding the database. In Entourage X, first go to Entourage > Turn
Off Office Notifications. Now, quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage
holding down the Option key. When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose
to do a Typical Rebuild. If that does not fix the problem, repeat the
procedure, instead opting to do the Advanced Rebuild.

As Diane said, they are located in the "Database" file.

Sometimes, anti-virus programs will identify the Entourage Database file as
a virus-infected file if the database contains an e-mail message with a
virus attached. In that case, you'd probably be better off leaving the
Database alone rather than allowing the anti-virus program to attempt to
clean, quarantine, or delete it.
