Entourage 04 Uploading THOUSANDS of duplicate messages!

So I have 2 accounts set up through Entourage - a hotmail account and a
gmail account. I have the settings on Entourage set to leave the messages
on the server so that I can be aggressive about deleting and filing on my
computer - but if I ever need a message, I know it's archived on
hotmail/gmail's server.

Over the last week or so, on 3 different occasions, Entourage has uploaded
thousands of messages that are old, and shows them as new. On Friday before
I started deleting, I was up to 14,000!

It seems like some kind of bug because I've used E04 for a couple of years
without problem. And if possible, I'd really like to keep leaving messages
on the server. Any ideas on what else might be causing this?

Simply log into your accounts with your web browser and move the older
messages out of the Inbox. Entourage only downloads from the Inbox.
