Entourage 2001 for OS 9 Question - Blinking icon in top right corner of my screen

I'm running Entourage 2001 (SR1) on an OS 9.2.2 machine. Whenever Entourage
is open, the icon in the top right of the screen constantly blinks. Is
there a way to make this stop? I have a single POP account set up to check
mail every 2 minutes.
