Entourage 2004 11.2.3 failing to connect to SMTP using SSL

Hi,

I have an IMAP account (NHS net) that I would like to use with the
latest version of Entourage. I have all of the settings, and when put
into either Entourage X or Mail they work. But when I use the same
settings in Entourage they do not.

I think that it is something to do with the root certificates. When I
first set up the new account in Entourage I received the "Unable to
establish a secure connection to xxx because the correct root
certificate is not installed" message, that seems to be a problem to
many (from my google searches!).

I have tried to sort this out by doing the following:

1. Getting my own free digital certificate from Thawte
2. Asking the helpdesk of my IMAP account to send me their root
certificates. They sent me three files, called ldap1_B64.cer,
GTE_ROOT_CA_B64.cer and CW_ICA_B64.cer. I dragged them one at a time
into Keychain access. The first went in fine as a X509 certificate, as
did the third. But the second one said "The specified item already
exists".

The main problem I have is that the email account still does not work
after this. I can receive emails using it, but not send them. As far
as I know everything is set up ok. The outgoing SMTP server is on a
different port (587), but I have temporarily disabled the firewall to
see if that was the problem and it was not.

If there is anybody out there that can help me I would be very VERY
grateful.

Thanks!

Dave
